Pastel drawing of a working cocker spaniel

“This is the second portrait I have commissioned Alex to draw, and there's a good reason I returned to him for a second time. We were blown away the first time with the portrait of Angus, so I knew after losing our precious boy Ziggy that there was only going to be one artist I would contact. Commissioning Alex to draw this time would come with an abundance of emotions that Alex dealt with so beautifully with his professionalism, kindness and sensitivity.
He guided me with a choice of photographs and with his experienced eye picked the perfect photograph, one I hadn't myself thought about using, but my goodness he was so right. Once the portrait was complete and was initially emailed to me, despite Alex's insistence that I took time to absorb the finished piece and pass on any changes I may want to make, I knew immediately that it was perfect and that he had mastered it in one hit. I couldn't believe it could get any more perfect but on receiving it for real, I actually couldn't breathe or speak. It really was exceptional. Alex brought Ziggy back to life but with a air of serenity and beauty that made him look so at peace, something that just couldn't be captured had I just had the original photograph printed.
My reaction was replicated by every family member, bringing tears and joy, especially on Christmas day when it was gifted to my husband. The special moment was consolidated with a heartfelt video message from Alex himself and a clip of the work in progress.
The entire package was professional, thoughtful and well worth every single penny.
Alex is a truly magnificent and talented human being and we can't thank him enough for creating a gift to last a lifetime.
There is only one artist I wanted to draw my beautiful Ziggy!”
